Should I Bring a Car With Me to Brock University?

If you are a Brock University student, you might be debating whether you want to bring your car with you for the upcoming year. There are advantages to both options, so here are a few things to consider before you make a decision.

Option A: Yes, Bring My Car

Convenience and freedom are probably the top reasons university students choose to bring a vehicle with them. Whether you want to drive across town to go shopping, take a weekend road trip, or go to a friend’s apartment several blocks away, it is nice to be able to use your own vehicle. Otherwise, you will have to use public transportation, have someone else drive you, or walk. In some cases, none of the alternatives are viable options. Plus, even if you do not use your vehicle regularly, there’s a certain sense of freedom knowing it is there when you need it.

Option B: No, Leave It at Home

For many university students, the cost is one of the biggest reasons they decide to not bring a vehicle with them to university. The cost of buying a vehicle and maintaining it can quickly add up. Add in the cost of gasoline, and bringing a vehicle can become more expensive than it’s worth, especially if you have friends who expect free rides.

For some students, a compromise is a good solution. If you have a close friend, especially a roommate, who is bringing a vehicle, you may want to see if your friend will let you borrow their vehicle occasionally. In return, you could volunteer to help pay for gas and other car-related expenses. You could also look into local car share companies in the area.

While deciding whether to bring a vehicle with you to university might be a difficult decision, picking a place to live does not have to be hard. If you are looking for a fun and convenient place to live while going to Brock University, contact us.
