Brock University Students: Accessorizing Your Living Space

Once you’re settled in at Brock University, and all set up with a nice student loft, the next step is maximizing the potential of your living space. Here are 6 little things you can do that will add to your student loft living experience.

1. Even if you already know the campus and surrounding area like the back of your hand, it never hurts to have a Brock University Map on the back of the door. Every university student has those days where you need a reminder of where you are and where you’re going. Plus it’s better than looking at a door.

2. Some artwork is also a necessity now that you are an adult, or at least according to whoever decides those sort of titles. You can get some of the popular names, like Picasso, Dali or Warhol, nothing wrong with that, but you can also look into getting some underground art if you want to shake it up a little.

3. Another simple thing that can really add personality to your place are rugs. Just get one. They’re the most impactful decor move you can make for the least amount of effort.

4. If you’re ready to take the next step beyond a rug, if you trust yourself with taking care of a living thing, consider some plants. They’ll help raise the oxygen level in the place too, which you may want for your studies no matter how well you think you’re doing. Cacti, bamboo, and aloe vera are 3 low maintenance varieties.

5. If you can keep the plants alive for a month, look into getting an aquarium. Bettas and Tetras are the easiest type of fish to keep alive, so that would be a good starting place. They’re likely not as cuddly as the pets you had growing up, but if you can find a way to cuddle with the fish please let us know, because that’s pretty interesting.

6. If you want to decorate the refrigerator, or even dedicate a whole wall to your favorite people and memories, consider getting a Polaroid instant camera and having it out for special occasions, or all the time even. Or you could set up a homemade selfie booth and have friends preserve some memories while they’re over as well.
