1. Brock has a view of the Toronto skyline

On a clear day, you may spot a beautiful view of the Toronto skyline! Head up to the 13th floor of the tower and look a little closer. Is the Rogers Center open?

2. Brock’s convocation attracts big names

Over the years, Brock has welcomed several celebrities to convocation as both attendees and speakers. Some of the most famous guests are Ryan Gosling, Eva Mendes, and John Stewart. 

3. Brock made the Huffington Post’s list of “Coolest Classes in Canada”

Two of Brock’s classes – Wine and Winemaking and Hockey: Culture and Commerce – made the Huffington Post list in 2014. Do you have any nominees for the next list? 

4. There’s a tunnel system under the Saint Catharine’s campus

Unfortunately, you can’t use it to escape the cold; but there is an underground tunnel system for the university. It’s used for heating, cooling, and water. 

5. Brock himself first uttered the university’s motto

Surgite! (Latin for “push on”) is said to have been the last word spoken by Major-General Sir Isaac Brock. Sir Brock was killed during in the Battle of Queenston Heights during the War of 1812. Head down the road to the historic battlefield and see if you can hear Brock’s ghost whisper surgite!
