3 Strategies for Meeting New People as a Brock University Student

Moving to a new place and meeting new people can be daunting. As a new student at Brock University, here are some strategies you can use to meet new people.

Study in the Common Areas

The Lofts offers the QZone study lounge where tenants can hang out and study with the use of whiteboards and group study tables. Individual apartments also feature large lounge-style living rooms, ideal for study groups and group projects. These are both great options when you need a place to gather together or study before an exam.

Spend Time in the Game Room

It’s really hard to meet people if you are stuck in your apartment all day. Head on down to the game room and challenge someone you have never met before to a game of ping pong or fuse ball. If you aren’t into playing, just hanging out in the common areas offers you the chance to meet new people.

Try a New Activity in the Fitness Centre

Participating in physical activity brings people together. If the person next to enjoys yoga, well you already have something to talk about after class. If you are looking for a shared experience, make a date to meet someone on the treadmill or in a class. Afterwards, you can make plans for coffee and have time to talk.

The hardest part about meeting new people is putting yourself out there. These three strategies provide the chance for you to meet new people. Contact us for more information about how you can make the Lofts your home.
